End User License Agreement (EULA) · Version 1.0 · November 2026
IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. This agreement is between you (an individual or a legal entity, the “User”) and CBY SMART SOLUTIONS (“CBY”, “we”), the developer of CBY DVD Ripper (the “Software”). By installing, activating or using the Software you confirm that you have read, understood and accept these terms, and that you are at least 18 years old and have full capacity to enter into contracts or, in the case of a legal entity, that you are authorised to represent it. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.
CBY grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, time-limited license to install and use the Software under the terms of this agreement:
The Software converts DVD-Video content that is not copy-protected, such as home videos, recordings of events, training discs and your own productions. It does not contain, and must not be used together with, any means of circumventing copy protection or other technological protection measures. You may only convert content that you own or have the right to copy, and you are solely responsible for complying with copyright law and with the rights of third parties in the content you convert. CBY does not check, store or receive your content.
You may not:
The Software is protected by copyright laws and international treaties. All rights in the Software, including the CBY name, logo and graphic elements, belong to CBY SMART SOLUTIONS or its licensors. The license grants you only the right to use the Software, not ownership of it.
The Software requires activation with a valid key. On activation and periodically afterwards, the Software contacts the CBY DVD Ripper license server and sends only: the activation key, a technical identifier of the computer, the computer name and the operating system type. This data is used solely to validate the license, prevent unauthorised use and provide support. The Software works offline for up to 30 days after the last successful check; after that, a new online check is required. Your content, file names and conversion settings are not sent to CBY. For questions about the data processed by CBY, contact us at www.cbysoft.com.
You are responsible for the content you convert (section 3), for checking the converted files before deleting or discarding the original discs, and for having enough free disk space. Damaged or scratched discs may not be read completely.
CBY may provide updates that fix errors, improve security or add features. Updates are subject to this agreement or its updated version. Support is provided through the channels published at www.cbysoft.com, within the limits of the purchased license.
Video encoding uses the encoders provided by your operating system and graphics hardware (Apple VideoToolbox on macOS; NVIDIA, Intel, AMD or Microsoft Media Foundation encoders on Windows). The available formats and encoding speed depend on your computer. Some computers do not provide an H.265/HEVC encoder.
The Software includes open-source components used under their own licenses, which take precedence for those components:
This agreement does not limit the rights those licenses give you. FFmpeg is a trademark of Fabrice Bellard. DVD is a trademark of the DVD Format/Logo Licensing Corporation. The Software is not endorsed by these organisations.
CBY warrants that the Software will perform substantially as described. Apart from this warranty and to the maximum extent permitted by law, the Software is provided “as is”, without any other express or implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted, error-free operation. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CBY is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including loss of data, profits or revenue, arising from the use of or inability to use the Software. CBY’s total liability in connection with the Software is limited to the price paid for the license in the last 12 months. These limitations do not apply to intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or where the law does not allow liability to be limited.
This agreement is valid for the license period. It terminates automatically if you breach its terms. On termination you must stop using the Software and uninstall it. The video files you created remain yours.
If you are a consumer (a natural person buying outside your trade or profession), you have, under the law, the right to withdraw from this agreement within 14 days of purchase, without giving a reason. However, for digital content supplied immediately (downloading and activating the Software), this right ends once you have started the download or use, provided you were informed beforehand and agreed to this. For withdrawal or refund requests contact us at www.cbysoft.com; CBY may also grant refunds in other cases at its own discretion.
This agreement is governed by Romanian law. Any disputes will be settled amicably or, if that is not possible, by the competent courts of Romania. Consumers may also use alternative dispute resolution procedures (ANPC – SAL) or the European ODR platform.
CBY is not liable for failing to perform its obligations due to events beyond its reasonable control. CBY may assign its rights and obligations under this agreement to another entity without affecting your acquired rights; you may not assign this agreement or the license without CBY’s prior written consent. If any provision of this agreement is held invalid, the remaining provisions stay in force. CBY may update these terms; the current version is available in the application and at www.cbysoft.com.
