End User License Agreement (EULA) · Version 2.0 · October 2026
IMPORTANT – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. This agreement is between you (an individual or a legal entity, the “User”) and CBY SMART SOLUTIONS (“CBY”, “we”), the developer of CBY PDF Editor (the “Software”). By installing, activating or using the Software you confirm that you have read, understood and accept these terms, and that you are at least 18 years old and have full capacity to enter into contracts or, in the case of a legal entity, that you are authorised to represent it. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Software.
CBY grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, time-limited license to install and use the Software for personal use or for your own business, under the terms of this agreement:

The Software is protected by copyright laws and international treaties. All rights in the Software, including the CBY name, logo and graphic elements, belong to CBY SMART SOLUTIONS or its licensors. The license grants you only the right to use the Software, not ownership of it. Documents you create or edit with the Software belong to you.
The Software requires activation with a valid key. On activation and periodically afterwards, the Software contacts the CBY license server and sends only: the activation key, a technical identifier of the computer, the computer name and the operating system type. This data is used solely to validate the license, prevent unauthorised use and provide support. The Software works offline for up to 30 days after the last successful check; after that, a new online check is required.
Your documents are processed locally, on your computer. The Software does not upload your documents, their text or text recognition (OCR) results to CBY’s or any third party’s servers. Digital signatures use the certificates on your computer. Phone access works only on your local network, after the device is paired using a QR code. Personal data is processed in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR); for questions or to exercise your rights, contact us at www.cbysoft.com.
You are responsible for the content of the documents you open, edit, sign or distribute, and for complying with the law and the rights of third parties. We recommend keeping backup copies of important documents before editing them. Text recognition (OCR), font recognition, conversions and permanent content removal (redaction) may produce imperfect results; check the result before relying on it. The legal validity of an electronic signature depends on the certificate used and on the applicable law.
CBY may provide updates that fix errors, improve security or add features. Updates are subject to this agreement or its updated version. Support is provided through the channels published at www.cbysoft.com, within the limits of the purchased license.
The Software includes open-source components used under their own licenses, which take precedence for those components: PDF.js (Apache 2.0), pdf-lib (MIT), fontkit (MIT), JSZip (MIT), Tesseract.js, Tesseract OCR and language data (Apache 2.0), digitorus pdfsign (BSD 2-Clause), pkcs7 (MIT), go-pkcs12 (BSD 3-Clause), Go libraries (BSD 3-Clause), the Arimo, Tinos, Cousine, Carlito and Caladea fonts (SIL Open Font License 1.1) and DejaVu (Bitstream Vera license). The full texts of these licenses are available in the application (All tools → License → Third-party licenses). This agreement does not limit the rights those licenses give you.
CBY warrants that the Software will perform substantially as described. Apart from this warranty and to the maximum extent permitted by law, the Software is provided “as is”, without any other express or implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted, error-free operation. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CBY is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including loss of data, profits, revenue or documents, arising from the use of or inability to use the Software. CBY’s total liability in connection with the Software is limited to the price paid for the license in the last 12 months. These limitations do not apply to intentional misconduct or gross negligence, or where the law does not allow liability to be limited.
This agreement is valid for the license period. It terminates automatically if you breach its terms. On termination you must stop using the Software and uninstall it. Documents created with the Software remain yours and can still be used.
If you are a consumer (a natural person buying outside your trade or profession), you have, under the law, the right to withdraw from this agreement within 14 days of purchase, without giving a reason. However, for digital content supplied immediately (downloading and activating the Software), this right ends once you have started the download or use, provided you were informed beforehand and agreed to this. For withdrawal or refund requests contact us at www.cbysoft.com; CBY may also grant refunds in other cases at its own discretion.
This agreement is governed by Romanian law. Any disputes will be settled amicably or, if that is not possible, by the competent courts of Romania. Consumers may also use alternative dispute resolution procedures (ANPC – SAL) or the European ODR platform.
CBY is not liable for failing to perform, or for delay in performing, its obligations due to events beyond its reasonable control, such as natural disasters, power or internet outages, cyber-attacks, acts of authorities, changes in the law or the unavailability of third-party services.
CBY may assign or transfer its rights and obligations under this agreement to another entity (for example, in a reorganisation or sale of the business), without affecting your acquired rights. You may not assign this agreement or the licence without CBY’s prior written consent.
If any provision of this agreement is held invalid, the remaining provisions stay in force. CBY may update these terms; the current version is available in the application (All tools → License) and at www.cbysoft.com. In case of differences between the Romanian version and its translations, the Romanian version prevails.
